We Respect Your Privacy

ISACA Sydney respects the privacy of all our members, and is committed to safeguarding the personal information which you provide us. Also, ISACA Sydney is subject to the requirements of the National Privacy Principles which are contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (the Privacy Act).

Our Privacy Policy outlines how ISACA Sydney will handle personal information about you. As we collect personal information online through www.isaca.org.au (our website). Our Privacy Policy is divided into the following sections:

1. How is personal information collected?

ISACA Sydney is one of the largest chapters in the Oceania Region and as such we an opportunity to allow members to collaborate with each other online. In order to provide this capability members are required to register with the Sydney Chapter website where some of their personal information is requested to allow the Chapter to validate their membership.

2. What personal information does ISACA Sydney collect, and why?

If you register as a user of ISACA Sydney’s website, we need to collect personal information about you, including your name, email address and ISACA International membership number. The main reason we need this information is so that we can validate that you are a member of ISACA International. ISACA Sydney may use this information from time to time to review who is using the website’s functionality with a view to enhancing the facilities offered by the Chapter.

3. Will personal information be given to anyone else?

ISACA Sydney does not sell personal information. Personal information will only be used for those reasons identified within Section 2 of this policy and ISACA Sydney will it disclose you contact details without notifying you or if this is required by law or permitted under the Privacy Act.

4. Security of personal information

ISACA Sydney protects the personal information it collects in a secure database which has restricted access to authorised users. The database itself resides with one of Australia’s leading Internet Service Providers within a secure premise.

5. Access and correction

Under the Privacy Act, you have a right to seek access to information which ISACA Sydney holds about you. You also have the right to ask us to correct information about you which is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. You are able to access you personal information online once you have logged in and have the ability to update any piece of personal information that you have provided.

6. Online privacy issues

To the extent that this Privacy Policy applies to online privacy issues, it is to be read as forming part of the terms of use for our website.

A. Online collection of personal and non-personal information
As outlined at Section 1 of this Privacy Policy, we collect personal information through our website for the purpose of validating members who access ISACA Sydney’s website. For each visitor to our website, our server automatically recognises and stores the source IP address. In addition, our website uses cookies. Most web browsers are set by default to accept cookies. However, if you do not wish to receive any cookies you may set your browser to either prompt or refuse cookies. We also use cookies for tracking the statistics of our website. This allows us to better understand our users and improve the layout and functionality of our website. This tracking is conducted in such a way to ensure the anonymity of visitors - in this context the cookie may identify your computer - but it should not identify you.

B. Secure Online Transactions
Currently ISACA Sydney does not offer inline transactions. This may be a service that we will look to offer to our members in the future.

C. Links to other websites
Sometimes our website contains links to third party websites, for your convenience and information. When you access one of these websites, please understand that ISACA Sydney is not responsible for the privacy practices of that site. We suggest that you review the privacy policies of each site you visit.

7. Additional privacy information and how contact ISACA Sydney

ISACA Sydney may change its Privacy Policy at any time. ISACA Sydney will make available this policy to anyone who requests it.
